Prague Travel Tips: Money, Safety, Tipping, and Getting Around

Prague Travel Tips

A few practical tips make Prague feel effortless—especially if it’s your first time in Central Europe.

Money & payments

  • Use ATMs from major banks and avoid bad exchange kiosks

  • Cards are widely accepted, but keep some cash for small purchases

Safety

  • Prague is generally very safe—watch for pickpockets in crowded areas

  • Use official taxis or ride-hailing apps

Tipping

Tipping is appreciated. Rounding up or leaving around 10% is common in restaurants.

Getting around

  • The metro/tram system is excellent

  • Walking is often the fastest way in the historic center

If you’d like, we can build a Prague plan that includes airport transfers, a private guide, and day trips.
